Reflect on google garage, what I consider a successful
Hello, today I will be discussing what I consider to be a very successful marketing campaign based on what I have learned from google garage. Google garage is free online course which consist of twenty-six modules which should take forty hours overall. When I was completing this online course, I found some of the information I was learning was already common knowledge due to my generation being so invested in technology

I will be discussing a very controversial advert which was produced by Gillette. Gillette are one of the leading razor blades producers in the world. This ad was so controversial as it called out the whole entire male population as a segment. It asks the male population is this the best that men can be. This campaign was launched on two media platforms instead on vast amounts, it was available to the public on both twitter and YouTube. The first link I would like to discuss between this Gillette ad and the google Garage online course is building a web presence. The Gillette ad did this by being so controversial to call their customers toxic or wrong thinkers in their online advert.
As you can see in the screenshot above all these fathers say the classical old saying that” boys will be boys” when two kids are fighting at a barbeque. Even though this is a very risky move made by Gillette any publicity is good as it has people talking about your brand. This is gillette building their online presence by using two online platforms and creating something for people to talk about on these online platforms.
The next aspect I would like to discuss which overlaps between google garage online course and the gillette the best a man can be campaign is the use of key word optimization and advertising on social media. These two aspects overlap due to the way the advertising on social media was carried out by gillette. Not only did gillette release a video with very controversial story but in the caption of the videos release they used a hashtag. The use of this hashtag “#thebestmencanbe” sparked people to use this in posts on all social media platforms not just the ones it was released on. This sparked a conversation of people judging the campaign and critically evaluation it online but also supporting the campaign all by just using the hashtag supplied by Gillette. Down below we have a screenshot the campaign hashtag and when it was used in the video. The use of two men hugging gave it a kind of heart-warming approach to grab viewers attention.

This was a very controversial ad campaign which worked in Gillettes favour by offending a whole gender but sparking a conversation about their brand which I thought worked very well for Gillette in the long run of things. Below we have a very good image in the movie or short film of what Gillete want to achieve of changing the norm of using the saying “boys will be boys”.
